How to replace a text string with another string value in Python

Since you are here reading this article, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that you don’t actually care about the detailed workings of replacing text string values in Python. No, you just want a quick and dirty solution so you can move on with your life. Well, you are in the right place.

Pip install the Cloudmersive Convert Client:

pip install cloudmersive-convert-api-client

Now for our function call edit_text_replace_simple. If you look at the example code below, you will see the process for instancing the API using an API Key, a necessary step for the function call.

from __future__ import print_functionimport timeimport cloudmersive_convert_api_clientfrom import ApiExceptionfrom pprint import pprint# Configure API key authorization: Apikeyconfiguration = cloudmersive_convert_api_client.Configuration()configuration.api_key['Apikey'] = 'YOUR_API_KEY'# Uncomment below to setup prefix (e.g. Bearer) for API key, if needed# configuration.api_key_prefix['Apikey'] = 'Bearer'# create an instance of the API classapi_instance = cloudmersive_convert_api_client.EditTextApi(cloudmersive_convert_api_client.ApiClient(configuration))request = cloudmersive_convert_api_client.ReplaceStringSimpleRequest() # ReplaceStringSimpleRequest | Input requesttry:# Replace a string in text with another string valueapi_response = api_instance.edit_text_replace_simple(request)pprint(api_response)except ApiException as e:print("Exception when calling EditTextApi->edit_text_replace_simple: %s\n" % e)

Done! Yes indeed, that’s how easy an API can make your life. Time to go pop the champagne.
