How to Detect Security Threats from a String in Python

There are a wide range of security threats lurking in cyber space that can attack you from a variety of different angles. While anti-virus software can protect you from major viruses and malware, there are several threat types that fall outside of their protection such as XSS attacks, XXE attacks, SQL injection, and more. In this quick tutorial, we will show you how to use an API in Python to automatically detect security threats from an input string, providing you with an additional layer of defense against these attacks.

Let’s begin the process by running this command to install the SDK:

pip install cloudmersive-security-api-client

After the installation, we can call the function with the following code:

from __future__ import print_function
import time
import cloudmersive_security_api_client
from cloudmersive_security_api_client.rest import ApiException
from pprint import pprint

This will provide you with results that will indicate if any of the threats were identified in the string. To retrieve your API key, head over to the Cloudmersive website to register for a free account; this provides 800 calls/month across our multitude of APIs.

There’s an API for that. Cloudmersive is a leader in Highly Scalable Cloud APIs.
