How to convert an Excel XLSX to a PNG Array in Python

Creating image arrays from spreadsheets has never been easier! With a helping hand from a powerhouse API, we will steamroll the problem at hand. Let’s dive straight in.

Let’s start by pip installing our client.

pip install cloudmersive-convert-api-client

Once that has finished, we will be able to call the API function we desire, in this case convert_document_xlsx_to_png. Here’s what that looks like.

from __future__ import print_functionimport timeimport cloudmersive_convert_api_clientfrom import ApiExceptionfrom pprint import pprint# Configure API key authorization: Apikeyconfiguration = cloudmersive_convert_api_client.Configuration()configuration.api_key['Apikey'] = 'YOUR_API_KEY'# Uncomment below to setup prefix (e.g. Bearer) for API key, if needed# configuration.api_key_prefix['Apikey'] = 'Bearer'# create an instance of the API classapi_instance = cloudmersive_convert_api_client.ConvertDocumentApi(cloudmersive_convert_api_client.ApiClient(configuration))input_file = '/path/to/file' # file | Input file to perform the operation on.try:# Convert Excel XLSX spreadsheet to PNG image arrayapi_response = api_instance.convert_document_xlsx_to_png(input_file)pprint(api_response)except ApiException as e:print("Exception when calling ConvertDocumentApi->convert_document_xlsx_to_png: %s\n" % e)

This same setup applies to pretty much every other API in this library, with additional details and examples for each function provided in the documentation section. Now it’s just a matter of running our code and we will get our resulting PNGs as part of a JSON, no problem.
