How to Block File Uploads with OLE Objects using Python
Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) is a fairly powerful technology, originally introduced by Microsoft to improve the way documents can access data from outside applications. Perhaps unsurprisingly, threat actors have rapidly found multiple ways to exploit OLE, hijacking this functionality to deliver malware, exploit application vulnerabilities, and many other threats to a user’s system.
To secure your file upload process against documents containing malicious embedded objects and links, it’s best to block them entirely.
